Country sourdough is a rustic, hearty bread made from a sourdough starter, along with freshly-milled flour, water, and sea salt. It has a characteristic tangy flavor from the natural fermentation that produces a moist, chewy crumb and a thick, crackling crust.
Country sourdough is available in different shapes and sizes and with a variety of added ingredients.
Pain de Campagne. A type of rustic sourdough bread from France traditionally made with a combination of white, whole wheat, and rye flours. This "country bread" is offered as a batard (rectangle) and as a boule (round) in two sizes. Baked wt. - Batard: 750 g (1 lb. 10 oz.) & 2 Kilo Boule: 1690 g (3 lbs. 12 oz)
Rosemary & Olive Oil. A country sourdough batard flavored with fresh rosemary and Italian extra-virgin olive oil. Baked wt. - 840 g (1 lb. 14 oz.)
Sun-dried Tomato & Herbs. The July Bread-of-the-Month is a customer favorite. Country sourdough flavored with Italian sun-dried tomatoes and dried Herbs de Provence gives this batard loaf an amazing aroma and taste. Once you try this bread, you will come back for more! Bread-of-the-Month. Breads made with country sourdough and flavored with added ingredients are rotated monthly throughout the year. Some seasonal offerings include Raisin Pecan, Cranberry Walnut, Calamata Olive & Herbs, Jalapeno Cheddar, Chocolate Cherry, and others.
